Lord, I want to see
by Dan Chen
In Mark 10:46-52, Jesus is proceeding on the road in Jericho, when he is hailed by a blind man named Bartimaeu, saying, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me." Jesus approaches the man and asks him what he wanted Him to do for him. The man responds by saying, "Rabbi (teacher), I want to see." Jesus heals him and he can see.
Why does Jesus ask him what he wants, when the man is obviously blind? Why does Jesus ask us what we want, when He obviously knows our every need? Because He wants us to ask Him. "Give us this day our daily bread" is not just about food, but everything we need - daily.
Jesus gave the man his sight because, "Your faith has healed you." Will your faith in the Healer meet your need? This timeless sculpture is a wonderful reminder that we have the Great Healer (Jesus), and as long as we have the faith in Him that He is who He says He is, and that He truly is the Great Healer we "Shall be healed."
